Brass Crafting Hammer
This brass crafting hammer was used as an exercise to hone our machinning skills and develop a tool which inspires creativity. The head is simoltanious 4-axis CNC machined from solid brass. The shaft and handle are turned on a lathe then finished with a cold bluing solution to create visual contrast while improving surface durability.
The brass head is angled forward by 5 degrees so that the striking face meets the workpiece before the user’s knuckles, enhancing comfort and control during use. The head, shaft, and handle are assembled using precision press fits with no locking compound; achieving this requires tight tolerances across multiple machining platforms, reflecting our emphasis on precision fit and finish.
The proportions, materials, and finishes are chosen to balance ergonomic use with a refined visual language that aligns with our broader tool suite. This hammer exemplifies our approach to tool design: clear intent, careful material selection, and a visible expression of craft that supports both performance and aesthetic presence.
