Commemorative Long Service Gifts

This project is a commemorative long service gift created for senior members of a school district board in Ottawa. The objective was to produce a durable functional item that could also serve as a formal recognition piece.

The gift is made from solid walnut and maple with an epoxy resin accent band to provide visual contrast. The board is finished with natural beeswax for a food safe, low sheen surface suitable for light kitchen or display use. The school board’s logo and text are engraved directly into the walnut section to ensure permanence without applied labels.

We worked with the client by providing various renderings to determine appropriate sizing, engraving placement, and overall tone of the piece to align with their recognition program. The final design balances everyday usability with presentation-quality appearance.

This project illustrates our capability to combine hardwoods with resin in a clean, contemporary format and to incorporate institutional branding into custom wooden items for formal occasions and milestones.
