NIXIE Clock

This project is a custom steampunk Nixie clock developed as an example of our integrated product design and fabrication capability. The clock incorporates genuine vintage Ukrainian Nixie tubes from the 1970s, combined with machined brass and copper components within a solid oak housing.

The electronic system uses a dedicated real-time clock and control electronics powered from 12 VDC with battery backup to maintain accurate timekeeping during power loss. Each element withing a Nixie tube requires approximately 170 V to illuminate, and the wiring has been carefully routed through copper piping both for safety management and as a visible design feature.

Mechanical hardware elements were selected and adapted to functionally interface with the electronics. A modified water valve serves as the primary power switch, providing tactile actuation while maintaining visual consistency with the steampunk aesthetic. Brass fittings, fasteners, and corner hardware further reinforce the industrial character of the piece.

This clock demonstrates our ability to integrate electronics, custom metalwork, and fine woodworking into a cohesive product. It reflects our approach to sourcing authentic components, addressing electrical and mechanical constraints, and producing functional one off designs for collectors and specialized clients.
