Hardwood Bookshelf

This project is a custom freestanding bookshelf featuring a blend of contemporary and handcrafted design. The primary material is solid red oak that highlights the natural grain and stained to provide a deep, warm tone. The piece incorporates solid Maple for contrast and geometric side panels with repeating X-shaped cutouts and round maple plugs/dowels used as visual accents and structural joinery details.

The bookshelf includes multiple evenly spaced shelves suited for books, decor, and plants, with open sides and back to keep the form light and airy. The overall aesthetic should balance clean lines with artisanal craftsmanship, emphasizing visible joinery and solid hardwood construction rather than veneer.

Desired qualities include: durability, premium hardwoods, hand-finished surfaces, and precise geometric symmetry. The intended space is a modern residential interior, and dimensions should be scaled to standard wall height while maintaining a slim footprint.
