Coffee Table

This project is a custom mid-century modern coffee table. The table is constructed from laminated baltic birch plywood with exposed edge detail and features a walnut veneer accent for visual contrast. A solid marble plate is integrated into the lower portion of the table.

The geometry of the piece creates an intentionally asymmetrical profile with significant cantilever. As a result, weight distribution and center of gravity were core considerations in the design phase. The marble element was selected and positioned specifically to offset the mass of the upper cantilevered surface and to provide stability to a form that would otherwise be structurally unbalanced. Its size, density, and placement were calculated to deliver functional stability without altering the visual intent of the design.

The laminated plywood construction highlights repeated linear grain and consistent layering, reinforcing the graphic quality of the form. Edges and planes are kept clean and minimal, consistent with mid-century modern influences.

This coffee table demonstrates our capability to combine aesthetic objectives with practical structural problem solving. It also reflects our approach to integrating mixed materials; wood composites, hardwood veneer, stone and glass in a single functional piece. Dimensions, veneer species, and stone selection can be adjusted for future commissions based on client preference and interior context.
