Lathe Chamfer Tool

This chamfering tool was designed for use in an AXA size toolholder and manufactured as part of our in-house tooling system. The body is machined from steel with tapered wall pockets to securely locate the inserts for producing accurate 45 degree chamfers.

The design accommodates standard square carbide inserts, allowing straightforward replacement and consistent cutting geometry. The tool is double ended, providing flexibility for face turning, parallel turning, and accessing internal features without changing setups.

By using a cutting chamfer rather than a formed edge, the tool delivers clean, controlled material removal with predictable cutting forces. This approach improves edge consistency, reduces burr formation, and performs reliably across a wide range of materials. The compact, rigid layout supports repeatable results while minimizing load on the machine and workpiece, making it well suited for both one off parts and small production runs.
